Amazing engineering. Although, if someone really comes up with indestructible tyre, I seriously doubt they would start to sell it as such. They must make them weaker, otherwise it's a bad moneymaker.

Great, but how will they last on asphalt pavements on daily use, strong accelerations, drift, emergency braking etc.. also a sedan car is pretty low and heavy, the weight of a Tesla for instance is twice of a mars rover.. so when nitinol will compress the ground will hit the tire wheel. So you need more nitinol structure support the weight of a car thus probably more bulky tire for a car like a Tesla. But then this will raise the height, higher suspension, larger wheel wells, larger tires. Also cars are much faster and require very solid adherence , on asphalt, snow, ice, rain etc.. im sure they will come out with the nitinol tire one day but this will probably also require changes on vehicle shape , suspension , structural body and braking adjustment software. I don't think you can just swap a rubber tire with nitinol+ tire using the same wheels we are currently using. Then not to mention price. Rubber tires are already super expensive and you only need 3 or 4 sets for the life time of the vehicle.

You can literally light up your tires now... Add a led strip to the inside of rim and wire to a battery holder on the spokes!!!
